Qory Sandioriva as Miss Universe contestant from Indonesia

Still doing nothing on the 20th day of Ramadhan

Giving a try to take a nap but I can, so I just google and unexpectedly find an interesting video : Qory Sandioriva -as -the- contestant -from -Indonesia’s performance on Miss Universe Contest.

Before I play it, I look at people’s comments under that video and they look like showing their dissapointment. Some of them even obviously say “yuck”.

Then I click the start button, and open a new tab to open twitter, while waiting for it to load. No interesting tweets, so I’m back to this video. And I play it.

First question, being a woman, what piece of advice would you give to a man?
Qory answered it unfluently, and grammatically wrong. She even said “a women can be nice..” and also “it have a sounds like..”

Second question, What is the best gift you have ever received?
Her answer was really unexpectable. First I guessed that she would answer “the best give ever for me is my own life”.. or things like that, and I’m totally wrong. “The best gift someone ever given is a box, and the cccrrr (not clear) isn’t cute or beautiful but it makes me love music, i love music now...”, she said, with a bad grammar of English (again).

Third question, What is the worst date you have ever been on?
She answered it based on her experience of having date with a playboy.

And the fourth question (not a question, actually, it’s like a dare) was making the sounds effect of lion, car starting, rocket, cow, sheep, robot.

The conclusion : Qory’s performance wasn’t good enough as a Miss Universe contestant. She was not good at English at all, and I think her body shape wasn’t as good as the other contestants too. So, I think it could be guessed that she wouldn’t be chosen, or even be considered.

Yes, I know it must be hard to be a Miss Universe contestant, I won’t be able to speak in front of the international juries, as perfect as they are, but at least I am not Putri Indonesia :p. So it would be better if Indonesia can wisely choose the best of the best to be the contestant on Miss Universe 2011 next year, because she will bring the name of our lovely-big country (not city, like what Nadine had said in Miss Universe 2005 :p), at least she can speak English fluently, even I think that English should be a piece of cake for a Miss Universe-gonnabe, and if she couldn’t, it will be much better if she use a translator. Because I swear, language is influencing the answer, maybe she has a good answer, but because she can’t translate it into English, she choose another answer using simpler sentence, which is not her best answer. Who knows?

But I appreciate your performance, Qory. I know it wasn’t that easy, answering the Miss Universe’ juries’ questions, using another language, which was not your mother language. I appreciate your confidence, making the sound effects of the animals without any embarrasement, which was so natural.
